BALOO stands for Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation. It is a Cub Scout level training required for Packs to go on Pack family campouts. Each unit must have at least one person with BALOO training in attendance at campouts. It is recommended that Packs have several trained leaders. The training teaches how to incorporate outdoor elements into the Cub Scout program and family camping experiences that are safe and fun! BALOO is a one day training course- no overnight camping is required to complete the training.
IOLS stands for Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills. It is Boy Scout level training and is part of the required training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters. IOLS training focuses on using the patrol method, boy leadership, and incorporating fun, adventurous outdoor elements in a Troop camping experience. IOLS requires 2 nights camping to complete the training.
